Hank Zipzer is to return to CBBC for a third series, it was confirmed today.

The news was announced alongside the scheduling of the childrens' comedy's second series. The 13-episode run will begin in August on the CBBC channel.

Hank Zipzer Series 3 is already in production on location in Yorkshire, and is expected to consist of a further 13 episodes to air in Summer 2016.

The series is based on the best-selling series of books, Hank Zipzer: The World's Greatest Underachiever, co-writtern by Lin Oliver and Happy Days' The Fonz star Henry Winkler, who stars in the TV adaptation as music teacher Mr. Rock.

Inspired by Winkler's real-life experiences of growing up as a smart and resourceful teenager who is hindered by extreme dyslexia and teachers who are largely unwilling to understand his problem, the first series was broadcast on CBBC from January to April 2014.

Hank Zipzer Series 2 reunites Winkler with Nick James as Hank; Juliet Cowan and Neil Fitzmaurice as his parents; Nick Mohammed as headmaster Mr Love; and Felicity Montagu as the harsh Miss Adolf.

The series will also introduce new temporary headteacher Mr Joy, played by Javone Prince.
