In more practical terms, there is also a hell of a lot of "stuff" from that time - far more than is immediately obvious which is good as it still means new discoveries. But I wonder now if the number of records being released suddenly increased during those years and I may well try to check on the figures to find out.
Anyhow, thanks for another interesting piece.
Just watched Deep Purple - Made in Japan on BBC4. A documentary. Very interesting.

Looking forward to watching this. Listened to that album a lot when it first came out.
Must be some overlap though with the Classic Albums episode about Machine Head.
Feels like this is happening more and more with music docs. Are they running out of new ideas?

I just had a live John Handy album on. Great stuff although some of his other recordings aren't quite as good.
"The Evils of Tomato Juice" - from the mid 60s radio series The Clitheroe Kid
Simpler times, simpler humour but I like it, especially Danny Ross, the gormless boyfriend of Jimmy Clitheroe's sister.
Here he is in a short clip from the Arthur Askey film "The Love Match" - hope I'm stating the bleedin' obvious; he's the one with the van.

Yes, thanks, Chappers. I will if it is still available. Managed to get the Carole King one a few hours before it disappeared. There was that moment in 1970 when Purple and Sabbath were both in the Top 5 singles. Black Night and Paranoid. A first for that sort of thing and I doubt if anything similar ever happened again.
