The head of Sport England has said that if schools provided hair dryers, then more image conscious girls would take up P.E. at school.
Can I just say this type of sexist stereotyping of girls is disgusting and condescending, who the hell does this guy think he is?! Reducing all young women to no more then empty headed, lazy, Barbie dolls who only care about their looks...What's that? The head of Sport England is a woman? Oh that's okay then, I didn't know a woman said that, then that's fine.

Most of the women I've known with long hair often needed a great deal of time to dry and style it properly. It was never the case of a quick shower and then 5 minutes with a blow dryer. So unless half of the P.E. lesson is going to be taken up with 'salon time', I'm not sure if this initiative would work.
When I was at school none of the girls even had showers or got their hair wet after PE. At most we ran through the shower with our towel on for 3 seconds if the scary PE teacher insisted on it.
Did your PE teacher watch?
I never remember showering at school.
