Contrary to common belief, The Morecambe & Wise Show only ever broadcast two new episodes on Saturday nights: the 1971 and 1976 Christmas Day specials. An additional compilation of highlights from Series 1 aired on a Saturday early in 1969, and 13 further repeats also aired on Saturdays, but for most of its run The Morecambe & Wise Show premiered mid-week.
