  • Mr Bean is to return in 2025 for 52 more animated episodes
  • Rowan Atkinson says: "The animation process creatively is always fascinating and I'm looking forward to getting stuck into the new series very much"

The animated Mr Bean format is to return to TV for a fourth series in 2025.

Voiced once again by Rowan Atkinson, Series 4 will contain 52 episodes.

Due to premiere on ITVX in the UK, deals have already been struck with broadcasters around the world, including Cartoonito and HBO Max for European countries and Warner Bros for the Middle East and Africa. Meanwhile Discovery will air the series in Asia.

Since its launch in 2002, the cartoon format has been seen in 195 territories. Mr Bean is one of the world's most popular comedy characters, with 140 million fans on Facebook and 72 million subscribers on YouTube (who have generated over 19 billion videos views on the platform so far). The character is also now growing fans on TikTok, with 14 million likes on the platform.

The new episodes will continue to follow the hapless loner with few social skills, attempting to forge a way through life living in London alongside his teddy bear.

Rowan Atkinson says: "I have always enjoyed this iteration of the Mr Bean character and the particular freedoms he has in animated form. We can take him into space or down a tin mine, without me personally having to suffer the consequences. The animation process creatively is always fascinating and I'm looking forward to getting stuck into the new series very much."

Tom Beattie from producers Tiger Aspect says: "It's a real pleasure to have the opportunity to go back to such a special series. Mr Bean is an iconic comedy legend and it's an honour to work with Rowan to create this physically funny series."

Cathy Payne from Banijay Rights comments: "One of the most loved characters in television comedy history, Mr Bean's amusing escapades are cherished by children and families across the world. So we're thrilled to continue our long-standing partnership with Warner Bros Discovery and ITV on this wonderful animated series which captures Bean's world so brilliantly."
