Mandy, the comedy series starring Diane Morgan, has been confirmed as returning to BBC Two for a third series. The news was previously revealed in October, but has now been officially confirmed by the BBC.

The broadcaster says: "Diane Morgan's iconic character Mandy returns for a third six-part series and is once again written by, directed by and starring Morgan. Will she ever get to breed the Dobermans of her dreams?"

Diane Morgan comments: "Bigger hair! Longer cigarettes! Mintier pig! Expect all this and more in the third epic season of Mandy. Now in 3D (where available) - you'll believe you're actually inside Mandy's small back bedroom! Get your free goggles in the Radio Times."

The six new 15 minute episodes will be on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer later this year.

The commission was announced by BBC comedy commissioner Jon Petrie at the BBC Comedy Festival in Cardiff, where the BBC called comedy "a public service and needed now more than ever". A total of 10 commissions were announced. Full list of new shows
