  • BBC One has ordered two more series of the sitcom Here We Go about the dysfunctional but irrepressible Jessops family
  • Created by and starring Tom Basden, the comedy will also see Katherine Parkinson, Jim Howick and Alison Steadman reprising their roles
  • "I'm absolutely delighted to bring the relentlessly chaotic Jessop family back to BBC One for more homespun triumphs and disasters, and can't wait to work with such a brilliant and hilarious cast once again" said Basden

Here We Go is returning for two more series on BBC One, British Comedy Guide can exclusively reveal.

Created and written by Tom Basden, who stars alongside Katherine Parkinson, Jim Howick and Alison Steadman, the sitcom will continue to follow the dysfunctional but irrepressible Jessops family as they rub along for a second and third series of seven 30-minute episodes, winding each other up in the process.

With everything depicted through the camcorder filming of the family's son Sam (Jude Collie), Freya Parks, Mica Ricketts and Tori Allen-Martin are also reprising their roles, with the second series set to air later this year.

"I'm absolutely delighted to bring the relentlessly chaotic Jessop family back to BBC One for more homespun triumphs and disasters, and can't wait to work with such a brilliant and hilarious cast once again," Basden told BCG.

Piloted in 2020 as Pandemonium, following the Jessops as they tried to holiday during the coronavirus pandemic, Here We Go's first series aired in April last year and was a critical success, with the i newspaper calling it "a warm hug of a sitcom" and the Telegraph hailing it as "a comic masterpiece".

The first series ended with Rachel (Parkinson) revealing to husband Paul (Howick) that she wanted to return to university, Amy (Parks) leaving for Norway, a possible romance for Sam and Robin (Basden) and Cherry (Allen-Martin) potentially reconciled.

Produced by BBC Studios Comedy Productions, Here We Go is executive produced by Tom Jordan and Josh Cole. The commissioning editor for the BBC is Gregor Sharp.

"We're thrilled that the BBC have ordered more of this 'comic masterpiece' said Cole. "The Telegraph's words not mine, and the papers never lie. Tom Basden's scripts are exceptional, we can't wait to be back in The Jessops lives for two more series."

Jon Petrie, director of BBC Comedy added: "Here We Go is a hilarious and refreshing addition to the family sitcom...family. The glowing response to the first series was enough to justify two more and we can't wait to see what the Jessops mess up next."

The first series of Here We Go is currently available on BBC iPlayer.
