  • It was piloted in September 2017, starring a range of new comic talent
  • The series will be seen on television on BBC Two

BBC Three has ordered four episodes of new sketch show Famalam.

Following a pilot, broadcast towards the end of September 2017 on BBC Two, the corporation's online brand has commissioned the mini-series.

The BBC say: "We'll meet a huge range of comic creations including thwarted Nigerian philanthropist Prince Alyusi, Croydon's leading voodoo doctor Professor Lofuko, misunderstood superhero Eclispe, never-satiated chicken-loving schoolboy Fat Sam and over-amorous daytime TV hosts/lovers, William and Funke.

"Along the way we'll also learn some newly-unearthed Black British History with garage MC Scribbler P, get a sneak peak of the latest Nollywood blockbusters, and at last see some much-needed cultural diversity injected into Midsomer Murders."

Famalam Series 1 has already been filmed and will premiere online through BBC Three's platforms in early April, before being broadcast on BBC Two later in the month.

Shane Allen, Controller, Comedy Commissioning, says: "This exciting ensemble of comedy talent delivers their fresh and funny take on the multi-cultural Britain of today. Although sketch shows will forever be reviewed as 'hit and miss', they are a vital and crucial way to bring through the next wave of comedy stars and in Famalam we've got a supremely funny troupe."

Damian Kavanagh, Controller of BBC Three, adds: "I'm really pleased that Famalam is coming to BBC Three. It's a great new take on the sketch show featuring fresh, new comedy voices and an array of brilliant new characters that I know our audience will love."

Akemnji Ndifornyen the show's prodcuer, says: "I can't wait to unleash this amazing show on you all! Credit to our cast, crew and brilliant director, Mr Tom Marshall. Get your knives and forks ready for a comedy feast, Famalam."

The comedy stars Vivienne Acheampong, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Samson Kayo, John MacMillan, Vine superstar Tom Moutchi and Roxanne Sternberg.
