Michael McIntyre is to host a primetime Easter special for BBC One.

One of Britain's most popular and successful stand-up comedians, McIntyre will host the one-off special Michael McIntyre Presents ... Easter Night At The Coliseum.

To be recorded at the London Coliseum, the prestigious Covent Garden home of the English National Opera, later this month, the special is believed to be scheduled for broadcast a week later, on Easter Sunday, April 5th, in a prime-time slot on BBC One.

Producers describe the programme as "a jam-packed night of entertainment and variety", with Michael set to preside over "the world's leading comedians, music superstars and jaw-dropping speciality acts as well as his own record-breaking comic talents".

The programme follows the success of Michael McIntyre's Very Christmassy Christmas Show, broadcast on Christmas Day 2014, which saw the comic joined by a range of guests for chat, cooking, music and comedy.

The Coliseum is London's largest theatre, seating more than 2,500 audience members. Tickets are available now via our free tickets page.

Tickets are also now available for ITV's similar variety series, Sunday Night At The Palladium, which is expected to return to screens on Sunday 29th March.
