Big Boys, Derry Girls, Man Vs Bee and Motherland up for BPG Awards

The nominations for the 49th Broadcasting Press Guild Awards have been announced, with Big Boys and its writer Jack Rooke up for three awards.

Big Boys, Derry Girls and Motherland also feature in the Best Writer category, with Jack Rooke, Lisa McGee and Sharon Horgan nominated alongside James Graham (Sherwood) and Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders, SAS Rogue Heroes).

Jack Rooke is also one of the BPG Breakthrough Talent Award nominees, featuring in the shortlist alongside Am I Being Unreasonable? star Lenny Rush and political correspondent Ione Wells.

Meanwhile the entertainment programme category features Gold documentary series Billy Connolly Does and Sky series Rob And Romesh Vs alongside Strictly Come Dancing and The Traitors.

This Is Going To Hurt's Ambika Mod and Ben Whishaw, Motherland's Anna Maxwell Martin and Marriage star Nicola Walker appear in the acting category shortlists.

The Broadcasting Press Guild was founded in 1974 and the awards shortlists are picked by its members; journalists who specialise in covering television, streaming, radio podcasts and the media, and include critics, previewers, media correspondents and feature writers from national newspapers, broadcasters and leading trade journals and online publishers.

The results of the awards will be announced at an event in London on Friday 24th March.
