Opinion: comedies that were pulled earlier than planned

If Host The Week has been axed by Channel 4 after one episode, as has been reported, it joins a very select band of television comedies that were pulled earlier than planned.

E4 drops Dirty Digest

E4 has unexpectedly axed its comedy showbiz gossip show Dirty Digest after just three episodes.

Twenty years ago, there was a groundbreaking arts programme that gave musicians an important early platform, robustly tackled homophobia and encouraged young outsiders to indulge their minority interests. Such as tonguing grannies. It was called The Word. And, frankly, it was the acme of highbrow, compared with this truly horrible, witless dreck - think The 11 O'Clock Show with a serious head injury - in which a shrieking panel discuss burning celebrity issues of the day (camel toes! OMG!). You don't know what you've got till it's gone.
