Pitching your TV comedy

Pitching to producers in meetings is a trend that has grown in British television recently. In America, it is traditional for a writer to meet with production companies and pitch their creation verbally: perhaps reading out a pre-prepared spiel of 4 or 5 pages. This will contain all the details of their series idea, which will already have won the approval of their agent, and will convey both the characters and situation as well as the tone and the demographic it is aimed at.
