Competition: Get a topical sketch animated

Cofilmic and Zubox TV

Have you written a good sketch? Would you like to see it animated? If so, read on...

Cofilmic - the talent network which, each October, runs a festival in Manchester for short films, sitcom pilots and sketches - has announced a new writing competition.

They've teamed up with animation company zuboxTV to offer three people the chance to have their sketch made into an animated clip which will be published on YouTube.

zuboxTV, a relatively new animation studio, is aiming to produce entertaining short-form content on two YouTube channels. Their aim is to be the 'go to place' for entertaining animated content, using different themes, such as sport, entertainment and TV.

Via Cofilmic and this competition, they're looking to work with new scriptwriting talent to make material which is "current, shareable and entertaining". They say: "If you think you can make us laugh, and know what's trending on the web, then enter this free competition now!"

To enter you need to write a topical comedy sketch that should last no more than one minute. That'll probably be a one page script - if you're unsure, time yourself reading it out (don't forget to include time for any non-dialogue actions that occur).

You need to write your sketch to fit one of four themes:

- Film
- Music
- Football
- TV

No previous writing experience is necessary, but if you've never written before we advise you to learn how to format a script before entering (there's lots of examples in our forums and on Google).

Once you've created your script and carefully polished it to make it as funny as possible, email it to: competition@cofilmic.co.uk

There's a rule of only one entry a person, so make sure you send your best sketch! You must also make sure the script is 100% your own original work, for obvious reasons.

The deadline is 22nd May 2013.

To give you an idea of the sort of animation zuboxTV does, here's a short sketch they made about BBC talent show The Voice:

Full terms and conditions: Successful writers will be paid £35 for the winning content which will appear on a zuboxTV channel. Winners will be notified within 14 days of the closing date. It must be own material, which they will own the copyright on. Judges decision is final, no alternative prizes will be given. No feedback can be given on decisions made.
