Radio Times review

Radio Times Top 40 TV Shows of 2015, #19:

Matt Berry's ghastly, narcissistic but strangely lovable actor has now blared his way through three series, but the inventiveness and sheer silliness of this surreal sitcom shows no sign of getting less funny. The ideas kept coming in series three, which saw the luvvie take on the "feminists" by judging a beauty competition, and then fall for the charisma of Jon Hamm: getting the Mad Men star was quite a coup, but he loves this show. Toast Of London showed that old fashioned daftness still has a place - both in the hip late-night schedules of C4 and the comedy world in general.

Toast of London: series 3, episode 3 review

The strongest of the season so far. Featuring the inexplicably charming Jon Hamm, Brian Blessed, and the world's tallest castle.

Sam Polti, On The Box, 3rd December 2015

Toast takes a spill down some stairs, and after bashing his noggin on some masonry finds himself beguiled by Jon Hamm, who makes a special guest appearance this week as himself. Hamm moves in opposite Toast and Ed's crumbling billet on Meard Street, and a charming courtship begins, but it threatens to be derailed with news that Toast's father Gonville (a brilliantly booming Brian Blessed) is on his last legs. With his estate to secure, Toast races to Somerset with his brother Blair to claim his birthright. Lovely stuff.

Toast of London, Channel 4 review

Jon Hamm and Brian Blessed add more delicious layers to Matt Berry's knowing comedy.

Radio Times review

After being hit on the head, terminal womaniser Steven Toast falls in love - with a man. And not just any man, but Jon Hamm, handsome star of Mad Men, who's making a film about Tommy Cooper in Dorset.

"I've literally never heard of him," Toast tells his giddy agent Jane Plough (pronounced Pluff). But once "the Hamm", as he is referred to throughout, walks through the doors of the decrepit Colonial Club, Toast (Matt Berry) is smitten. Not even he can resist the Hamm's fabled "charm and charisma" ("It's like black magic!").

Toast's puppy-like devotion - he makes Hamm a mix tape of marching tunes and spies on him as he undresses - is both idiotic and funny, and Hamm plays along with an admirable poker face. Watch out for guests Heida Reed (Poldark) and Brian Blessed as Toast's dad.

Toast of London Series 3 preview

In later episodes, as RadioTimes.com has previously revealed, we also meet Steven's Dad in the form of Brian Blessed and Toast gets a charisma lesson from Mad Men star Jon Hamm.

Ben Dowell, Radio Times, 18th November 2015

There's an actor, an actor of integrity, exalted and raised aloft by the muses, his art the theatrical ambrosia which surges through his arteries in haste, seeking the next divine project to shine a truth onto our existence.

But that's enough about Shia LaBoeuf allowing us to watch a livestream of Shia LaBoeuf watching all of Shia LaBoeuf's films, including the seminal Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I want to talk about a man who's the hottest thing since a slice of freshly-toaster-popped warm bread: Toast. Steven Toast. Toast of London.

The caramel-throated thespian, the best in the country at acting in high winds, returns in the third series of the Bafta-winning comedy Toast of London. In this run Toast is invited to the Royal Variety Performance and also meets Jon Hamm off Mad Men, although his days of hearing Clem Fandango may be numbered as a new and cheaper voiceover artist muscles in on his work. Delirious, majestic oafery, where the joy drawn from the performances ensure repeat viewings.

Jon Hamm is guest starring in Toast of London

Yes I can hear you, Don Draper: Jon Hamm is to guest star in Matt Berry's Toast Of London.

Harry Fletcher, Digital Spy, 1st September 2015

Charlie Brooker's unnerving series returns for a feature-length Christmas special on Tuesday, starring Jon Hamm. But you can watch all previous episodes, which exhibit a compelling sense of unease about the modern world.
