The grime MC-turned-TV host returns for another series of his hit talkshow, alongside Mo "The Comedian" Gilligan. Described by its producers as "Graham Norton on acid", but probably akin to a more diverse Celebrity Juice, the show hits the sweet spot between current and nostalgic - with guests ranging from Pamela Anderson to Not3s - via Narstie and Mo's daft/straight dynamic. "The thing I like about this show is it doesn't always have to work," joked series one guest Richard Ayoade, but more often than not, it does.

What was Pierce Brosnan banned from doing while he played James Bond? Which film was released in Poland as Electronic Murderer? And who is Digger the Crab? All these questions and more from the last 100,000 years of human history will be answered as unflappable question-master Jimmy Carr tests the knowledge of Sandi Toksvig, Joe Lycett, Katherine Ryan, Big Narstie, David Baddiel and Frank Skinner. As always, he is aided and abetted by Jon Snow, Charles Dance and a phalanx of celebrity question-setters.

Following YouTube antics and the odd presenting gig, the grime MC landed his own Channel 4 series earlier this year. Having been well received, he returns for a special, once again alongside comic Mo Gilligan. Expect starry cameos, although hopefully no further screen time for his buddy Ed Sheeran.

The Big Narstie Show Series 2 confirmed

Channel 4 has commissioned a Christmas special and second series of The Big Narstie Show.

British Comedy Guide, 22nd August 2018

Less a chatshow, more a vehicle for its host's outsized personality, The Big Narstie Show has been a qualified success. Given that comparable programmes often feel like little more than a parade of promotional messages, it has been refreshing to see guests treated as props rather than flattered. Narstie is a winningly unpredictable presence, while his wingman, Mo Gilligan, keeps proceedings roughly anchored to convention. The series concludes with Narstie hitting the road.

Big Narstie and Mo Gilligan's anarchic chemistry continues to grow as the late-night chatshow continues. Narstie's charm means he gets away with more than most and guests hoping for an easy time promoting their latest gig get more than they bargained for. So far, they've been good-humoured in the face of this onslaught.

Craig David's wingman Big Narstie and his charismatic co-host Mo Gilligan present another slice of post-pub TV. Narstie heads out on the road to spread his own unique brand of joy to the nation, while big name guests join him and Gilligan in the studio. Who needs Graham Norton and his starry sofa when these two huge personalities are in action?

The Big Narstie Show review

The show works best when it goes off script.

Every new comedy chatshow says that it's going to upend the suffocating established format in a way that will be really jolly anarchic, you know; this one should have a better crack at actually doing that than most. Grime MC, YouTube wag and Big Fat Quiz wildcard Big Narstie hosts a mix of celebrity interviews, live music, audience interaction and filmed skits, flanked by rising standup star Mo Gilligan. "All formalities [will] go out the window," the press blurb promises. Let's hope so. Hopefully it'll be proof talkshows can be more than sitting around promoting things.
