The character Basil Brush will appear in two shows at the Edinburgh Fringe this August.

He'll present Basil Brush's Family Fun Show, as well as a show aimed at those over the age of 16, Basil Brush: Unleashed.

Speaking about Unleashed, which will be performed daily at 6:45pm, producers say: "Expect Basil Brush's trademark anarchy as he takes on the world with everything from Love Island to Westminster getting a comic Brushing. With nightly guests, this is going to be one hell of a debut."

Basil Brush's Family Fun Show, scheduled for 1pm, is described as "laughs, stories and songs for all the family", which will be "packed with fun, excitement and mayhem".

Both shows will take place in the Cow Barn room of the Underbelly venue in Bristo Square. The hour-long Unleashed will run from 31st July - 25th August, with the 45-minute family show scheduled for 31st July - 15th August.

'Born' in 1962, Basil Brush had his own TV show at the young age of 6 ("or 34 in human years") and entertained the masses up until 1984. After a well-deserved break, Basil's TV show relaunched on CBBC in 2002, running for a further five years.

In recent years, the fox has made cameo appearances on shows such as The Chase, Celebrity Juice and The Last Leg. He has also appeared annually in pantomime at Windsor's Theatre Royal for a number of years.

Basil initially worked with Ivan Owen up to 2000, with Michael Winsor taking over from 2002 until early this year.

Talking about Basil's connections with celebrities, producers also point out that "Basil has had the privilege of meeting some of the most famous names around the world including ABBA and Queen Elizabeth II. What a lucky little fox!"
