Heard the One About Identity Theft? With the Real Bennett Arron
This Welsh comedian was the first major victim of Identity Theft in the UK. The crime left him and his pregnant wife penniless and homeless. He went on to make a Channel 4 documentary on the subject in which he demonstrated the ease of the crime by stealing the identity of the Home Secretary. He was arrested in a dawn raid by Scotland Yard and shortlisted for a BAFTA. This is the whole story for the first time. 'Genuinely original and funny' (Times).

Heard the one about the comedian who had his identity stolen? Bennett Arron, a stand-up and writer, was one of the first major victims of identity fraud in the UK. The Radio 4 comic actor's experience subsequently led to him stealing the identity of the former home secretary Charles Clarke for a television stunt -- followed by being arrested in a dawn raid.
