Vince Miles: 10 Edinburgh Fringe questions

Vince Milesi

Vince Milesi answers 10 questions about his 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show, Let Dinki Di...

Give us a quick overview of your comedy career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

My career kicked off in 2011 a fresh faced graduate from the Ballarat School of Performing Arts I was offered my first season at The Butterfly Club in Melbourne.

This is my third year performing at the Fringe but my first as a solo act and I couldn't be happier because I love performing and I don't have to wait tables while I'm here. Unless a cafe is really busy, then I'll obviously lend a hand, wash some dishes, let strangers yell at me about their missing lattes...

Tell us two truths and one lie about yourself (but mix them up, keep us guessing!).

1. I randomly bleed from the eye, it is both haunting and beautiful.

2. My six year old daughter has had a more successful career than me.

4. My grand battement derrière was the best in my ballet class.

Describe your new show in exactly 23 words.

Streuth! War is heck! Luckily Dinky's here to spruce things up. The guns are out, chins are up, let's party like it's 1916!

Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

An accomplished tin whistle blower, I plan to lure punters in from the cobbled streets of Edinburgh much like the Pied Piper did with the little children of Hamelin. I'm terrified of rats though, god I hope this doesn't backfire.

What's your plan for trying to eat - and drink - healthily during the Fringe?

It's all about variety. If you've had a Hog Roast Roll for breakfast you're going to want to mix it up for lunch - maybe something light, like a deep fried Mars bar. Water is cheating, hydrate with Iron Bru because your body has to work harder to burn the calories - it's simple science.

What will you miss most while you're away from home?

I forgot to pack vegemite. It's part of my beauty regime because it puts a rose on every cheek. My complexion's never been so pallid.

Aside from performing, what else are you looking forward to doing in Scotland's fine capital?

Keep it on the dl, but I am thinking of storming that castle up on the hill. It would be great publicity for the show, "Lone Camp Soldier Storms Edinburgh Castle; Security Seems Confused, American Tourists Take Photos"

If you took over programming a Fringe venue, what would your perfect line-up of comedians be?

Paul Currie
Michelle Brasier
Aunty Donna
Will Seaward
The Rubber Bandits

Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

Easy, a king rat. I googled it to check if it's called a king rat or a rat king and all these images came up - I've just woken up from passing out with a little bit of spew in my mouth.

Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,800+ other Fringe offerings listed on BCG this year?

Many good disco balls were destroyed in the making of this show. Don't let their deaths be in vain.

'Let Dinki Di' is at Gilded Balloon at 10:45pm until the 29th August. Listing
