Grimmest of Grimm Tales: 10 Edinburgh Fringe questions

Grimmest of Grimm Tales answers 10 questions about their 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show...

Give us a quick overview of your comedy career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

We have all worked as comic actors and children's entertainers professionally for about 15 years each, so collectively we have approximately 60 years' experience in the wonderful world of family entertainment and profitable lunacy! Two of us have worked in Children's TV, one of us is a professional storyteller and the other is hilarious and has been in Pantomime with Christopher Biggins! As far as Jane is aware (she's the one writing this) everybody is utterly delighted with where they are at so far! She is also the oldest and started doing this nonsense back in 1994!

Tell us two truths and one lie about yourself (but mix them up, keep us guessing!).

One of us got kidnapped in Morocco, one of us was knocked unconscious with a rubber chicken and another invented 'Pokemon Go' back in 1996 but forgot to tell anyone about it!

Describe your new show in exactly 23 words.

A fast-paced, anarchic, family comedy with music, puppets, storytelling and barely organised chaos telling some of the lesser known, grimmer Grimm Fairy Tales.

Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

We have a lot of chickens in our show. Not sure how this answers your question. Maybe free entry for chickens? Or bring a chicken. Show us your Cockerel and get a free ticket? May need to think this one through...

What's your plan for trying to eat - and drink - healthily during the Fringe?

Our Stage Manager is actually a Personal Trainer when he's not facilitating this kind of idiocy. He's been giving us lots of nutritional advice and trying to get us down the gym. We are being politely interested in his wisdom at present, though it's doubtful this will last until the end of August.

What will you miss most while you're away from home?

Adam is missing the colour changing lights in his new kitchen; Eden is missing his eco-friendly compost toilet; Jamie is missing having his own set of keys; Becky is missing sleeping on a proper mattress and Jane is missing a lie-in.

Aside from performing, what else are you looking forward to doing in Scotland's fine capital?

The Witchery Restaurant, seeing loads of other shows, eating haggis, catching up with all our Scottish chums and doing the obligatory hike up Arthur's Seat

If you took over programming a Fringe venue, what would your perfect line-up of comedians be?

Tricky, we all have different tastes but Greg Davies would be our collective choice headliner. Jane likes Lee Mack. Sarah Millican is getting strong votes and we all love a bit of Stephen Fry (though technically he's not a comedian... or is he? I don't know.) To be fair though, we would probably just programme ourselves and all our friends in - cheaper innit?

Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

Adam says his ex-girlfriend, who is actually doing a pretty big show here this year (we won't say who it is). Jane lives in fear of meeting her old French teacher, Miss Fielding... (urgh, recurring nightmares). Reasons in both cases too hideous to contemplate.

Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,800+ other Fringe offerings listed on BCG this year?

We like to think we are pretty unique. A genuinely funny show that the whole family can come along and enjoy! No rude words and only a hint of mild peril. Some of it is even bordering on educational. Kind of... ish. Proper PG rated fun for all!

'The Grimmest of Grimm Tales' is at theSpace Surgeons Hall at 9:40am until the 20th August. Listing
