Chris Mayo review

Chris Mayo's Panic Attack. Chris Mayo

There's nothing intrinsically stressful about being in the audience for Chris Mayo's Panic Attack, a thought which had caused great worry to our reviewer before stepping into the little cave. In fact, Mayo is a welcoming host with more than a little nervous energy on his side.

In fact, during the course of the show Mayo reveals to the audience the problems that he has in dealing with stress and worry in his everyday life using some well-observed stories and call-backs as well as an occasionally dark delivery which belies his seemingly breezy nature.

At points in the show the audience is forced to wonder whether they're paying to act as silent counsellors as opposed to an audience who have paid good money to be entertained and further to that, there are times when it easy to worry for Mayo's sanity and, while it's doubtless part of the shtick, it is a little bit concerning at times.

In essence, Chris Mayo's Panic Attack can be summed up in one thought. Yes, you probably are worrying too much.
