You probably haven't heard of DeAnne Smith yet. You will.

After a hugely successful season in Australia where she was nominated for the Barry Award (MICF) this year, Award Winning Canadian/American comic DeAnne Smith is making her Edinburgh debut with her new stand up show.

With her trademark wit and irreverence, and a few ukulele tunes, this show sees "nerdy but dirty" DeAnne tackle topics such as anxiety, ignorance, lesbian relationships, and mortality. She also leaves room in her show for plenty of banter, showcasing her quick wit and formidable improv skills with the freeform segment "5 1/2 Minutes of Bonus Hilarity." DeAnne has been voted one of Montreal's top three comedians by the Montreal Mirror readers for the last four years

DeAnne will be coming to Edinburgh directly from the Just for Laughs Festival where she will appear in Chicago and Montreal as well as appearing on HBO's Funny As Hell and is looking forward to seeing how discerning Edinburgh punters will receive her quirky, cerebral brand of stand-up comedy at the notoriously cut-throat Fringe. DeAnne has just been nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award.

If you do indeed recognise Smith, it may be thanks to her brief appearance on NBC's Last Comic Standing in 2007.
