I love Bill Hicks; though how I discovered him does root back to my friend handing me an iPod when I was upset one day, and saying "See - there ARE people who complain more than you!", and me laughing just from that. I was sat in a long tutorial stiffling giggles for half an hour, and was compelled to seek out more.

He is good!
I don't want to come off as sounding like I hate him.

I know what you mean about him being quite elevated for what he is to be honest. Influence of his death, you think?

Maybe.
It happens with everyone else, so yes, probably.

I think lots of people end up writing their personal assignment essays on things like whether JFK was unfairly elevated due to his assassination.

Good point. He is very funny though, imo, although sometimes slightly over the top.

I have never heard of him, but I feel sad anyway because he was quite young.

The friend who introduced me to him only found out that he existed by searching his own name on the internet. The former now maintains that the comedian must have been his name-sake.

Too bad. I wasn't a huge fan but he had his moments.

Then why bother commenting?

Because usually we mention FAMOUS people on here and as I'ver never heard of him he's definitely not.

I could tell you that a bloke down the road died but would you care?

I just wanted to know who he is and what he's ever done.

he was in def comedy jam
he was voted one of the 100 best stand up's
of all time.
if you haven't herd of him.
the you need to mate.

But if he's American I probably wouldn't relate to hus comedy.

Better not let Charley hear you say that. But I'm not frightened of her.

So fame is decided by whether or not YOU have heard of someone?

The OP had a link to a BBC story that mentioned the highlights of his career.

Here's the link again since you missed it:
