What do people think of the classic Sitcoms with big casts?

I'm thinking of Dad's Army, It Aint Half Hot Mum, and those featuring the Hi Di Hi group of actors. A while back the BBC said they were looking for new Sitcoms with bigger casts but haven't seen anything come of it. Just wondering if it they've changed their mind, too costly, or if they just haven't found a script or idea good enough.

Just an idea I'm working on so would appreciate any feedback.

The latter. They're on the lookout for big mainstream successes (think My Family). I doubt that the size of the cast would really come into it that much.

Those older 'classic' sitcoms are often the best though.
