I'm reliably informed I'm quite good on the 'Ebony Oboe'. :$

Is that anything like a "Liquorice Stick"...?

There are plenty of bass players who play in a plodding way but take a listen to Chris Squires or Charlie Mingus - they take it to some inspiring places!

Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers made me pick up bass rather than guitar first. :D

Plus the cool but iritating dude from Pink Floyd of course - who fell out with everyone apart from himself. Roger Waters.

I play keyboards. I actually did the sad thing of youtubing myself playing an old Durannie number. It's here if anyone fancies a look. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6n92N1zPKIc

Nice one Perry.

Brilliant. I've always had a secret soft spot for Duran Duran, going back to my childhood. I think it's partly because a lot of their stuff was produced by Nile Rodgers, from the group Chic, and also featured Chic bassist Bernard Edwards, who was responsible for the great bassline on the song 'Good Times', which was later famously sampled, by Old Skool Hip hop group The Sugarhill Gang. It also inspired Queen's John Deacon to record the bass-heavy 'Another one bites the Dust'. I think Rodgers and Edwards also produced/played on David Bowie's 'Let's Dance' album.

What language is that you're speaking?

Flea's great. His main influence was Bootsy Collins, who used to play with James Brown, and of course, George Clinton's Parliament/Funkadelic. I was gonna post a link to a Bootsy video, but thought I'd post one to a clip of a more recent bass legend instead. This really is amazing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVB-qcLQWas&NR=1

Yeah! I really like funk and Bootsy Collins actually. It's a bit of a laughing point for my friends. :P

Justin Timberlake... Usher... all those people that sound the same and have one hit... songs about sleazy sex and weed, you know the type. >_<
