Who will make a decent mayor? Page 15

Interestingly, it was reported today that Boris's team has been promised that Ken's will be marched out of City Hall "within minutes". Under the electoral rules, they have 28 hours to vacate the premises, but it's feared that they'll use the time to destory key documents. Fair enough that one candidate would be suspicious of another, but the fact that it seems to have been effectively agreed by the authorities is somewhat worrying!

Presumably this is just something written into the statute to ensure a legal handover. In fact they are likely to have loads of confidential briefings between teams on loads of issues - anti-terrorism for instance.

Mayor Johnson has won (what was that second vote bollox about?!) so deserves a chance to bring about the changes he has promised.
He'll soon get shot down if he don't.

Oh, and the weasel has lost.

It absolutely amazes me that anyone can actually look upon his tenure positively. IMHO the fella is just a self-serving, arse-licking liar who has surrounded himself with a team of nodding dogs who will do anything he asks for the obscenely excessive salaries he pays them.

The fact it was so close is a travesty but of course the weasel has made sure that he has buttered up enough so called 'minorities' to secure a large proportion of the vote.

A question, why is it that lefties can spout figures and data and expect us to believe them yet when ever these are queried or contradicted they are the first to attempt to discredit the provider of the information, usually most vociferously.

It's not Holy to have left wing/socialist views you know?

Also, if all the people who have believed in and supported the weasel and his consistent lies in actual fact voted correctly then the communists would be far more prominent in our society.

But what do I know? I'm an idiot and buffoon 'cos I didn't vote for someone with a left wing bent.

What a bastard!

To ensure a clear winner. (Although IMO it was clear enough without, but I think they have been taken into account.)

Good post though Gary!

I'm not a huge fan of Ken, but I don't have a thorough hatred of him either. At very least I have a huge respect for him for sticking by what he's said in the face of pressure to become an apologiser; notably that concentration camp guard comment. Good on him.

Aaron, I did in fact have a sneaky liking for Livinstone for a whole number of years 'cos I felt that maybe he was genuine and heartfelt as a bit part player, even though some of the things he did and said were obvious points winners. However, once in major spotlight (I'm not counting GLC!) he's shown, to me anyway, he was only ever out for numero uno.

I've probably made my self even less popular than before so I'll shut up now and wait for the barrage of 'Fascist!', 'Nazi!' etc. abuse.

I'm bloody excited though! Going into the centre of town tomorrow, wondering what or who I might see.

Me too!
I'm quite pleased to be in olde London town on his first day.

Fascist bastard - but there's nothing wrong with that!

I know that but try telling those pinkos that!

This is the funniest thing I've ever read on this site. Shame it's not intentional, though.

Meant every word!

For a so-called leftie, Livingstone never really seemed to abide by the democratic process.

He always did what he wanted.

Well I truly hope history will prove me wrong on this one.

Ken's been a good mayor, from inward investment, the London Skills COuncil, riots that didn't happen, crime decreasing (and yes it's gone down). It's almost decent he didn't win, the man has always had the integrity of not seeking popularity. He's been a big man, a very big man in terms of influence and success. And Boris is a very, very little man, I doubt he'll be able to do to much damage during his most likely very brief tenure in office.

Ken too me is a near Christ like figure, burdened with the cross of other's ignorance. So he couldn't force every driver out of the city center, and he couldn't reach every disaffected youth with a knife.

I like Ken, but I might well have voted for a credible experienced Conservative (I said Chris Patten and I'm sticking with it). Instead we have the ghastly image of personality politics in the form of Boris.

I wish Boris was a harmless grinning idiot, I really do. Some how I doubt it.

n.b. if he cancels the Olympics I'll cheer.

n.b. can people stop laughing at other people's political views, that's just rude.

FGW are a uniquely evil company. Expensive, dirty, staff who look they should be on trial in the Hague (peaked caps, where's the leather trench coats?)

Where as Network SOuth East, and Hull Trains are remarkably nice.

I think FGW may actually be First Great Satan, with Beelzebub actually ruling them.

We can hope.

If there's one good thing that can come out of this debacle for Labour, will be if Gordon resigns.

Maybe he could become a bouncer, model for gargoyles, or maybe he could reduce immigration.

I reckon if he stood on the White Cliffs of Dover glowering at France, he could drastically reduce immigration.

Hmmm, you have fallen for Ken's propaganda! On which he spent LOTS of the budget. e.g. Why else do we need notices 8 miles out of London central telling you that a Congestion Zone is 8 miles away, signed MaYor of London.

I heard it again on the TV yesterday, those who don't know Ken very well: like him; those who do know him well personally: dislike him intensely.

I don't know Ken well personally, but I know a person (whom I do trust explicitly), who does know him well personally, & she says he is only out for himself & his own ego. And observing him since hearing that I believce it to be true. IMO: The REAL Ken Livingstone is much closer to Garyd's description (weasel) above than yours.
