Writing for female characters Page 2

Create a gay man, write how the gay guy would talk then take away the penis. It'll either be good or you'll end up with Nadia of BB

But wouldn't they have been written by a woman? Unless you're just giving an example of good writing.

Are you talking about Coupling, or am I getting mixed up? Coupling was written by a man, if that's what you were wondering.

Ah, I thought Coupling was written by a married/ex couple? What am I thinking of?

Nah, just Stephen Moffatt. Maybe you somehow got it mixed up with Fawlty Towers?!?

I was hitting myself over the head with a large comedy mallet at the time.

I write lots of male characters and I don't give it a second thought. I wonder why so many men think it'll be different writing for a female character?

I think it's believed most men write out their fantasy woman. Not ideal for comedy, but great for porn.

Saddoes. ;)

Yes, how it your George Clooney/Bradd Pitt flat share sitcom coming along, Dolly?

Sick

(it's Daniel Craig and Ewen McGregor actually....)

Think of Dobby in Peep Show.
She's not talking about periods and babies all the time, she's just a normal person.
So yeah, I agree with the 'write the same as you would for a man' stuff.

Laughing out loud

Ah, I do apologize.

James Bond and Renton, aye?

A license to Choose life?

You should write any female/male voice the same. True to their character.

Yeah, it's their insecurites and personalities that are interesting, not whether they're off out to buy a bra and some tampax. :)
