Boris Johnson the New Messiah of British Politics Page 2

Bravo Mr Bennett I haven't seen such concern for art since the demise of the Viennese Secesionists.

That's the problem, I'm talking about comedy and not about arts in general. If someone is an artist and does experiments in several fields such as comedy, sex, sports or whatever then it makes sense (although a comedy site wouldn't be the right place for him to be). But if he's a full time comedian then maybe he will realize one day that "bashing out material and putting it onto YouTube to get many likes" won't make a lifelong career. Or maybe he's right and I'm wrong...but then I'll turn my back on new comedy and will live only on old DVD's.

...or to be funny (I'm not saying that this example isn't). But this whole "arty" approach to comedy puzzles me a bit. If a painter says: "Bashing out my pictures as fast as I can and see what happens is my concept" then that's ok with me. Art, in a neutral sense, can be beautiful, shocking, bleak, preachy or whatever. Or everything at the same time. But this is comedy after all...and the fun factor should be the most important (imo). But that doesn't seem to be top priority with this approach...so, what's the point, or as Teddy would put it: "why bother".
I'm don't want to insult you PA I'm just trying to understand. That's why I bother, Teddy.

Hi GB, there are artists that do believe speed is the essence. http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=abstract+expressionism&hl=en&prmd=imvnsb&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=jP12UKudGOel0QWO0YGYAg&ved=0CC8QsAQ&biw=1907&bih=983

Could even be argued about the Ramones?

But there are to logical thought processes to what I'm doing. Firstly on the internet there is an instant moment when a subject is 'fully aware'. The Clegg apology being something I stumbled upon. Lots of traffic interest in a short space of time. If you can hit the moment you can create big traffic.

The Clegg sorry song hit 500.000 in hours, bizarrely the same time we uploaded 'Ultimatum' it even made the national news (The Poke that is)

So hitting a moment can create internet traffic

So I'm interested in that..

But also these are also editing exercises, which I regularly fail, in trying to do something at speed.

But yes I'd also like to try and be funny and hopefully amuse people

Trust that helps.. Perhaps I should try and do what Lazzard suggests and do to shorter versions and see if they go better than the longer versions?..interesting..I'll get back.. must dash

APS

PS there is only one art..

Thanks for you reply.

If they are exercices it'd be better for them to be shorter to keep other people interested. I'm sure you know what you're doing. But for others it's easier to digest these experimental things if they're shorter.

Always enjoy your posts. Comedy is more of a hobby for me. Its what I'd like to be doing. Check channel FIVE at 11 O'clock (10 o"clock sorry) tonight for the day job

I agree that shorter is much better, I have done few mash ups and had a small ammount of success hits wise, but now I have a YouTube channel for stuff that I write and make myself, silly & daft stuff but I like it.

And then I have another channel for making Mashups, because I enjoy doing them (especcially after a few drinks) they are relatively easy to do, they sometimes get a lot of hits, and I don't mind if YouTube deletes them all.

Out of the both I am happier with the stuff that I write myself I get a bigger kick out of it, but sometimes I can't resist a good old mashup, cause some things are just asking for it and I can't sleep unless I do something with it.

Yes maybe, but if you move in a specific field...comedy in this case, and present your art on a comedy site like this one, it may be wise to concentrate a bit more on the essence of the field which brings me back to Lazzard's suggestions to make the whole thing more concise and more to the point. If you present your art on a porn website, people want to see a bit more tits, they don't care much about the artistic approach, at least I wouldnt :P I hope you understand what I mean.
(Excuse my clumsy English)

Oh and by the way I though Boris behind the wall was a good touch, adding effects like that notches it up a bit
