Is it correct that he had wanted the lead role and didn't get on so well with Bob Crane?

I remeber Hogan's Heroes being shown on Sky's short-lived Comedy Channel in 1991-92. I don't remember much about the programme, although I can distinctly remember thinking the episodes were funny.

I didn't know anything about Bob Crane being a murder victim.

The fat guy was John Banner who also featured in something else called "Teddy's Bears" or something like that.

Werner Klemperer, who played Klink, was a jewish refugee and is perhaps best known apart from Hogan (ironically) for playing Eichmann.

Cast member Ivan Dixon was also quite active as a Director of many TV shows.
