Phillip Madoc dies

Best known for playing the famous U boat captain in a legendary episode of Dad's Army.

"Don't tell him, Pike!"

:D

Sad news. He played a blinder in a recent BBC Wales rugby ad too. He was the Welsh man it's OK to like.

Yes, said news. He played some great roles. RIP.

You vill all be join' on ze list.

RIP

Was he married to Ruth Madoc? He was a great actor.

Yes he was. She was interviewed on local news tonight. I was strangely moved... it must have been those formative years spent with the family glued to "Lloyd George" (as it was known in our house)

Ohhh, I didn't know that.

Terrific actor with an astonishing CV.

He also appeared in Porridge once. RIP

Indeed he did, a memorable cameo as a sexually frustrated Welshman.

Sad news, RIP.

Wow, was that him? You only have to compare that role with the one in Dad's Army to see the versatility. Would only have been a couple of years between them I would've thought.

Huh? Is there any other kind?

Indeed, RIP Ode Pal.

God, I'm starting to feel vulnerable . . :|

Versatility also demonstrated in Doctor Who, where he had at least four roles, appearing in Krotons, War Games, Morbius and Kroll. War Games probably his best.
