What's the most stupid song lyric? Page 3

I'm not for a moment calling it pretentious. He simply liberated the sounds and rhythms of the words from their literal meanings, in much the same manner as a doo-wap singer.

Although I admit that my attempt at explanation does itself sound awfully pretentious.

:)

The King of the stupid (yet engaging) Lyrics, Morrissey could fill his own thread. From First of the gang to Die:

And you have never been in love,
Until you've seen the dawn rise,
behind the home for the blind

The juxtaposition of melody and suicide at its worst (best)

"I feed the ducks with a bun, only to find me in love with you"

'Make My Head Go Pop' by Roxette

Of course some bands just don't care that the words don't make sense. Take Yes, for instance:

"A seasoned witch could call you from the depths of your disgrace,
And rearrange your liver to the solid mental grace"

Following Bill's post I just had to listen to Close to the Edge again.

Great band and the most brilliant nonsensical lyrics, Talking Heads - Once in a Lifetime..

Water dissolving
Water removing
There is water under the ocean
Remove the water
Carry the water
Remove the water from the bottom of the ocean

What?

"Don't you ever feel, like a plastic bag?"

I hate that line.

I don't want to see a ghost
It's the sight that I fear most
I'd rather have a piece of toast
Watch the evening news.

Well lemme tell you somethin, you might got mo' cash then me
But you ain't got the skills to eat a nigga's ass like me.

No, this is about Henshaws home for blind children in Old Trafford where I lived

,Morrissey down the road.

Indeed it is a juxtaposition of 'seeing' a sunrise and being denied the same pleasure, as in 'unrequited' love being 'unobtainable' to the blind.

I'll have no knocking of Morrissey in a thread I started. Get out Cam.

I wish people said where the lyric comes from.

I'm not a massive Morrissey fan but I don't think that lyric is too bad.

I'll get me coat.

I heard a song on the radio today called "Home thoughts from abroad" by Clifford T. Ward, the first line is, "I could be a millionaire, if I had the money", not the most auspicious of starts.

:) The quote is from the song' first of the gang to die'.

Morrissey has made a few albums of his own work, this is from 'You are the Quarry'.

A brilliant work, I believe his best since Smiths, always makes me cry. Teary

I was listening to a reggae compilation CD the other day, when on came Third World's classic track 'Now That We've Found Love'.

Anyway, I was doing some decorating; and nearly fell off the ladder at the following lyric.....'Now that I've got it right here in my hand, I'm gonna spread it all over the land'. (I suppose it'd be rude not to...if he's already got it in his hand.)

PS. I'd always found the openning of that song funny; when he seems to be singing; 'Make Daddy shit, make Daddy shit, make Daddy shit shit shit all over the place'. But I'd never really noticed the 'spreading it all over the land' bit before.

Choooooooon!!
