I have ordered some bootleg D.V.Ds and am hoping to get them soon. I ordered A Sharp Intake Of Breath The Top Secret Life Of Edgar Briggs .

Hallo there from Greece!First time in your lovely forum! Wave Wave
I am 50 years old,and I remember those two comedies you've referred dear friend Danny!
In my country we don't have any possibility to find old britcoms ,I used to enjoy,in the past!

So could you inform me,how can I order them too??
My English are bad,but I am "dying" to see them again!

Sorry if it is the wrong place! My agony is so big!

And just to ask you Danny,I believe if you are a great fan,of these, you might remember an episode,I will never forget in my life!

I Believe it was on The Top Secret Life Of Edgar Briggs, one of the first episodes 1,2,4,5! I have watch here and there, the other 9 episodes ,but none of them was the one!

The episode I am looking for, was like this:

Some agents have a mission to "help escaping" a russian political refuge, member of a russian ballet theatre[or something]!
But by a mistake the russian team leave the airport, taking a wrong "way" to London, and one of the agents run to a near bar, where the leader was waiting, and start to "scream" to the leader [because of the loud music inside the bar]!
Suddenly the electricity was cut,and the people inside the bar heard the agent who was screaming loud saying this:

'the russians landed to the airport, going to London, and no one can stop them"!!
The people thought about a russian invasion and start to panic!!

Please forgive my bad english! Wave Wave

Hello nikolaos,

Sadly, it's not possible to buy The Top Secret Life Of Edgar Briggs from legal places. Of the 13 episodes made, 9 are often held by private collectors.

From our (not yet published) episode guide to the series, it looks possible that the episode you describe you by episode number 2, titled The Defector.

There is an episode, number 9, The K.G.B., where Briggs is asked to rescue a defecting Russian scientist from the KGB, but I do have that episode myself, and it doesn't look like the scene you describe is in it.

Yes I have notice that here and there, are 9 episodes on the net ,I found them, but the quality is as I describe very bad,so I took a look, and delete them!
Non of the episode, was near to my description!
Well I hope someone have it, in his collection, and will keep me inform,if it is the one I want!
Or if it doesn't,to inform me,which is the real series!
But I am quite sure, because only a few britcoms, appeared in Greek TV ,on those years!
Benny hill
Allo,allo
Yes minister
and the two I have mention!
Also a six episodes amazing series with Ronnie Barker!

Unfortunately the translation of the titles, were so "irrelative" to the British originals,so........
:S

I am waiting for the guide of this series! Wave

THANKS AGAIN!EFCHARISTO POLY!

I'm only 23 which is why my collection is short of programmes from before the mid 90s but any recommendations would be appreciated.

I'm only 23 and my collection is a little short of programmes after 1980! :D

Why not start with Blackadder, Fawlty Towers and Steptoe and Son?

And welcome to the site. :)

Been meaning to get both Blackadder and Fawlty Towers for a while now actually, I've just always tended to get stuff which I havn't seen lots of times before.

Good plan! If you click Shop at the top and go into our recommendations section, there's quite a good selection of choices there. :)

And Hancock?

Possibly one that's not too dated like The Blood Donor (I can't believe I just typed that!).

I was going to suggest Hancock, The Likely Lads and Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em next!

Didn't Gold do a play-off between the decades for the best comedy era? Might be worth looking at the respective shortlists for that to see where to start.

They did indeed. When Were We Funniest? ran throughout 2008, IIRC.
