Wanted to recommend "The Big C" an equal part com/dram from Showtime. 13 episodes. Starring Laura Linney and Oliver Platt with great supporting cast. Really original and entertaining!Thanks!

I have already seen it. It was okay but did not find it to be anything special, I much prefer the United States of Tara out of Showtime's collection of female-lead half-hour comedy-dramas.

This is funny. It's got better further in. The characters are all ace and very well crafted.

It also one of those increasingly popular Middle-Aged Person Behaving Badly comedy-dramas from aAerica. Others include Breaking Bad, Weeds, Hung and Californication.
