US series aired in UK in the late 80s/early 90s

I'm trying to recall a series name - can anyone help?

It was shown around the time that Married with Children and Sledgehammer were 'hot'. In fact, I think it followed one of these shows in the schedule.

It was office based with the main character male.

Does this ring any bells with anyone?

I remember really liking it as an early teen and would like to look it up again now.

Sledgehammer! Now that was funny. Unfortunately, I seemed to be the only kid in my class who was allowed to stay up late enough to watch it, so I never had anyone to talk to about it.

Yeah, me too. I remember it being similar to Police Squad, but I'm probably wrong.

I also remember, vaguely, a animated cop show on C4. Mike Hammer, or something similar. That was ace.

MC Hammer was funny.
