The Passionate Stranger trivia

An early colour comedy, the real-world scenes of the film are shot in black and white, whilst the fantasy story within the story, depicted as Carlo reads Judith Wynter's novel, are in rich, full colour.

The film was released in the US under the title co-writer/director Muriel Box has preferred, A Novel Affair. She intently disliked distributor British Lion's choice and imposition of the title 'The Passionate Stranger'.
