Boys From County Hell review

Vampires come to Northern Ireland in a broad and gory comedy.

Kevin Maher, The Times, 6th August 2021

Boys From County Hell 'gleefully violent craic'

Performances are solid despite a paucity of dramatic meat for actors to sink their fangs into. The bare bones of an entertaining and irreverent romp are clearly visible, it is just the flesh and muscle that are missing.

Boys From County Hell review

A Northern Irish town with ties to vampiric lore has an uninvited guest in a funny if sometimes unbalanced film that channels Shaun Of The Dead.

Boys From County Hell review

A fun film that sadly isn't quite as funny as one may hope, Boys From County Hell still manages to just about work within the constraints of the comedy horror marriage.

Boys From County Hell review

Bram Stoker was Irish, and this Shudder horror comedy from director Chris Baugh delights in reinventing Dracula with a brogue.

Boys From County Hell review

Horror doesn't come with rules, but it's fair to say there can be bare minimums. If the monstrous force on the poster is going to be one of the classics, at least make it pop out in a surprising way. If the story is going to be about a certain band of characters facing such a menace, at least make them a little distinct. And if your movie involves some boozy Irish pranksters finding out about a long buried vampire corpse, at least make it a good time.

Boys From County Hell (2020)

Gory County Hell a goofy good time. Rating: 3/4.

Sara Michelle Fetters, Rotten Tomatoes, 22nd April 2021

Boys From County Hell review

Boys From County Hell is more successful as a portrait of small-town life than a raucous horror-comedy, but the film springs to life when Baugh goes all-in on the horror elements. It may not hit all the notes intended, but the film does leave you thirsting for more vampiric slaughter.

Boys From County Hell review

With a cast that's down for cracking good fun and a bloody wild ride, this vampire tale is alive with surprises, silly and scary.
