BBC Two confirms Sarah Millican Show commission

Following a successful pilot earlier in the year, BBC Two has ordered a full series of The Sarah Millican Television Show (a working title) from production company So Television.

The pilot was filmed in Salford in May (pictured), and Millican will return to the city next year for the six-part series. So, the production company co-founded by Graham Norton, are to establish a Scottish division in Glasgow which will oversee the show, alongside Millican's own company, Chopsy Productions.

In a message to her Twitter followers, Millican exclaimed: "BBC 2, series, me, yay, fuck, woop, yay."

A mix of stand-up and special guests, So describe the pilot: "Sarah Millican is in the mood to make the nation feel a bit better. Her way. Welcome to a half hour of caring 10pm comedy from a woman who really understands how we all feel."

BBC commissioner Alan Tyler commented: "Sarah Millican and So Television feels like a bit of a dream team. Sarah is one of the UK's funniest comedians and we are delighted to bring her first TV series to audiences on BBC Two. She is a truly unique combination of wit, warmth and killer punch lines. Sarah is in great hands with So Television who are one the foremost entertainment producers in the UK. This is a great first commission for their new Scottish arm."

Graham Stuart, Director of So Television added: "I could not think of a better way to start our new Scottish operation than working with the most exciting new comic in the business. Sarah Millican is a star."

The series will be Millican's first starring TV role after notable stand-up success and a popular Radio 4 series, Sarah Millican's Support Group.
