Miranda Hart is set to star in a Hollywood movie.

The comedian has signed up to appear in the next comedy film from Paul Feig, a director who has worked on Bridesmaids, Nurse Jackie and the American version of The Office.

Hart will appear alongside Jason Statham, Jude Law, Melissa McCarthy (Megan in Bridesmaids) and Rose Byrne (Helen Harris in Bridesmaids).

The movie, which has yet to be given a title, is described as a 'spy comedy' by the industry website Deadline.com.

Production starts this Monday, with the sitcom star and the rest of the cast due to be based in Budapest where filming will take place..

Hart has previously had supporting roles in big screen productions including The Infidel, however this will be her first major international film project. Feig told Deadline: "I've been a fan of Miranda's for years and am so excited to bring her to the big screen. I'm also hoping I'll finally get back that lawnmower I loaned her last summer."

Hart said: "I am beyond excited to work with Paul, who I am a huge huge fan of. And it will be nothing less than a hoot to work with Melissa McCarthy. By the end of the film I plan to have married Jude Law and have Melissa as our adopted daughter."

Hart, who is currently touring My, What I Call, Live Show around UK arenas, leapt to stardom off the back of her hit sitcom Miranda. Another series of the BBC show is planned, however is currently on hold due to her other commitments, which now also include this film.

This new movie is expected to be released in May 2015.
