Hi-De-Hi! star Su Pollard and comedy duo Cannon & Ball are to star in a new touring comedy play spoofing the story of Robin Hood.

Ha Ha Hood! And The Prince of Leaves is described by producers as "a brand new and all-out outrageous comic romp".

The show's blurb explains: "Ten years after a messy divorce, Robin and Marian are forced back together to fight the Sheriff once more. Little John and Friar Tuck, now considerably older and rougher around the edges, join the merry pair to try and save the citizens of Nottingham..."

Su Pollard will play Maid Marian, with producers noting she "serves up a world-weary Marian who is definitely more matron than maid". Tommy Cannon takes on the roles of both the evil Sheriff of Nottingham and Little John, while Bobby Ball doubles up as Friar Tuck and Guy of Gisborne.

Cannon & Ball's starring role in Ha Ha Hood! Prince of Leaves marks forty years since their first television appearance and a notable fifty years together as a double act.

The production, which also stars Ben Langley and Andy Pickering, has been put together by the Ha Ha Boys comedy team. The company have previously staged the shows Ha Ha Holmes!, Ha Ha Hitler! and Ha Ha Hamlet!.

Ha Ha Hood! Prince of Leaves will start at Chelmsford Civic with a 5 night run from the 19th - 23rd August 2014 before taking off on a 61 date national tour from 4th September through 17th November 2014.

Creator Ben Langley, who also takes on the mantle of Robin, explains: "For me, what I saw in Ha Ha! was a British version of The Reduced Shakespeare Company which, rather than taking the micky out of us, was embracing us and was very pro-British and was a tribute to all of the great comedy artists and routines that have made Britain funny over the last 50 to 100 years."

The show will play in Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Manchester.

Other towns and cities on the tour include Chelmsford, Swansea, High Wycombe, Eastbourne, Llandudno, Crewe, Carlisle, Durham, Milton Keynes, Hastings, Leamington Spa, Redditch, Tunbridge Wells, Stevenage, Grimsby, York, Billingham, Oxford, Dartford, Poole, Margate, Wakefield, Southport, Dunstable, Bromley, Lichfield, Kings Lynn, Skegness, Shrewsbury, Bradford, Rhyl, Mansfield, Swindon, Torquay, Yeovil, Watford, Barnstaple, Weston-Super-Mare, Wimbledon, Woking, Ipswich, Aylesbury, Stoke-On-Trent, Dundee, Sunderland and Buxton.
