The Unforgettable...

Factual documentaries diving into the lives of some of Britain's most influential comedians, comics and actors

2000 - 2012  (ITV)
38 (5 series)
North One Television
& Watchmaker Productions

Through new interviews with family, colleagues and friends, archive footage and often private home videos, each episode of The Unforgettable charts the life and career of one of Britain's most talented, influential and well-remembered comics, actors or comedians. Names covered in the series range from Frankie Howerd and Joan Sims to Pat Phoenix, Diana Dors and Arthur Lowe.

Originally ending in 2002, The Unforgettable... returned to screens in 2010 with a brand new 8-part series focusing on the likes of Jeremy Beadle, Bob Monkhouse, Mollie Sugden and Harry Secombe.

There have since been new episodes in both 2011 and 2012, looking at the likes of Ernie Wise and Dudley Moore, plus less comedically-linked names like Noele Gordon, Russell Harty and John Thaw.

Our Review: A fascinating, insightful, and at times very sad series, The Unforgettable is a worthy example of how to pay homage to some of Britain's favourite entertainers. Although the programme has diverted somewhat from the original comedy focus, most if not all episodes remain of interest to the hardened comedy fan.
