Thora Parker is the landlady of a North Country boarding house that predominantly caters for showbiz types. She oversees the comings and goings of her boarders while caring for her two children, Alan and Vera as well as her mother. She's the fastidious type and everything must be in its place - but she can't stop her neighbour, Elsie, from borrowing anything that isn't nailed down!
