I was lucky enough to hear these two guys talk at a conference a couple of years ago

You utter, utter bastard.

Quote: Griff @ March 31, 2008, 3:04 PM

I've also been in presentations by Bjarne Stroustrup, Guido van Rossum and Steve Jobs. You might be the first person I've ever met who thinks that's cool!

:O

Guido van Rossum??

You utter, utter bastard!

Seriously, you utter bastard!

Well, not the latter. Not unless you took the opportunity to spit in his face?

Ian_w, I've got some vintage 1999 copies of the Python Library Reference and Python Reference Manual books if you're in the market to buy ? (Not signed by Guido I might add.)

I've also got a signed copy of the Python Cookbook but I'm going to hold onto that.

You putting them on ebay? PM me some more info anyway Griff. If they are in my price range I would be interested if only for collecter's sake!
Truly amazing language - I barely look at C these days (well, unless I am desperate for speed). And it's named after MPFC, what more could you want :D

EDIT:
Oh yeah, and I have to ask - what's he like? Did he have a good sense of humour?

Believe me I was sat way too far back from Steve Jobs to spit in his face.
Anyway, Macs are cool.

You will be exorcised one day, do not fret! :)

Quote: Griff @ March 31, 2008, 2:59 PM

Yep, Aaron's mostly right.

But not completely right?

Quote: Griff @ March 31, 2008, 3:10 PM

Anyway, Macs are cool.

Well... They aren't...

Why can't we all just get along.

Laughing out loud

Paul - I added the qualifier "mostly" right because there seemed to be some suggestion in Aaron's explanation that WWW technology (HTML etc as per Berners-Lee) was involved in the routing of messages around the internet, which is still the preserve of the underlying TCP/IP network.

Oh good Lord no! :O The spine of the network was of course long established!

Quote: Griff @ March 31, 2008, 5:25 PM

And Macs are cool. It's a scientific fact.

You'll get better, don't worry.

I just like the fact he might be wrong on something :D

Macs are not... god proven fact...

Check...
