Know nothing about them.

But if I've read it right, the key soul label of current times - Daptone - is branching out and about to release their next single. Could be a big winner for them depending on what they are like live.

The heavy rain since lunchtime from under my duvet.

It feels lovely especially when I fall asleep to it in a way where I can still hear it. Hug

Yes - I did do my 18 months in the cadets thanks.

Get the line on your blankets centre then stand by your beds or else.

That's the mid seventies so I do that one in Junes.

Julys is 1971 psychedelia and Augusts is acoustics, beads and kaftans. Wave

(i bet you've never nearly blown your shoulder off with the butt of your self loading rifle) Cool

18 months? Military service in Switzerland is only up to 21 weeks. I had to do my service 1998 during a lucky period when it was temporarily reduced to 15 weeks. That was the stupidest time of my life. With 18 months to serve I'd have either killed myself or the regiment.

I did mine in school when 14 and 15. It was every Tuesday night and a few weekends at army bases. My group went into the town to buy beer and got beaten up by local yobs. Folkestone was like the Bronx then.

And there was no danger of any wars then.

No that's right although they used to say those of us who had been in it would be selected ahead of those with no experience. Having no perspective - who was in the group that needed to be rescued by jeep on an orienteering exercise in Crowborough? - this caused a lot of alarm at the time of the Falklands War. Was it the start of WW3 etc? Everything that was a disaster was personally revisited in a more casual way at the Glastonbury Festival from the 1990s. I genuinely believe that was where I completed my military service and I enjoyed it all. It's weird innit. Contexts. Mind you, the night exercises there didn't involve shooting blanks.

Thanks GK. Two fairly established bands - several albums - with whom I am not very familiar. Know that I took to "You Got yr Cherry Bomb" by Spoon a couple of years ago. My impression is that they can do quite a lot of things. The Deerhunter track I know best is "Pensacola" which I picked out on Spotify on the grounds that we used to stay at the improbably named Peniscola in Spain when attending the Benicasim FIB festival. Tenuous I accept but it is a lovely part of the coast. On that first track, I really rate NPR - and ABC Australia - as they at the very least do what BBC radio does especially musically so it is always good to see NPR links.
