What are you listening to now? Page 1,184

The list of artists I saw at my first Glastonbury includes a few names scribbled in small letters followed by many more written large. The former are "we were just going past the stage", "I think that is who they were were" and "comparatively unmemorable". And most of those are at the very start before we had found our bearings and our feet. The year was 1993. Artists 1 in small were the Black Velvet Band and then Artists 2 - now what is this? - the Barenaked Ladies. I can't say the memory is vivid. But it was sufficient to have been aware of them for all the subsequent years without ever getting to know them until now. Which is a bit odd given just how big they have been in Canada and elsewhere.

Yep, I can take that on board. Looking ahead...what with Gorillaz, Mali Music and The Good, the Bad and the Queen, there is enough range in Albarn to think he could become one of the more interesting musical 60-somethings of his generation. I'd expect an estuarial Scott Walker "Tilt" at the very least.

(But, Chappers, the more direct parallel is Lesley Duncan again, is it not?) :)

Oh.....any excuse for a repeat of it.

The breezes in the trees used to sound like this in the 1970s.

They could still do, I guess, with the right sort of material.

I did love Lesley Duncan and her stuff but never got any owing to the fact that I spent my money on other things.

John Grant (feat. Midlake) - I Wanna Go To Marz

Interesting, thanks. I find John Grant an artist of integrity and he is worthy of respect. However, his stuff is a little too sad to be enjoyable. At least, that is how I find it. Still love Midlake. Especially the VO CD. It's a strange thing of real beauty and it at least equals the seventies tunes which inform it.
