Series 3, Episode 8 - Money

Tudur Owen is on a quest for cash, as he reviews the funniest, most fascinating clips from half a century and more of Welsh television. It's a story of one-armed bandits, potato rustlers and £30 pints, full of lively characters from the nation's TV past.

Further details

Money makes the world go round, or so they say, and in this episode of Tudur's TV Flashback, Tudur is looking into our relationship with it.

In 1968, the Welsh inherited a thousand years of history when Queen Elizabeth II transferred the Royal Mint from Tower Hill, London to Llantrisant in south Wales. In a special feature from the time, key workers from the London base teach the Welsh workforce about the ancient trade.

Additional clips include a day-in-the-life of a Splott market stall holder, reaction to the new pound coin in 1983 and an economist uses an inflation calculator in 1977 to predict the future cost of items such as a semi-detached house, a loaf of bread and a pint of beer.

Notes

This episode is also known as Quest For Cash and Cash.
