Priya Hall's sitcom Beena And Amrit is returning to BBC Radio Wales for a second series.

Four more episodes of the loosely autobiographical comedy about a politics graduate, forced to move home to the south Wales valleys to look after her divorced mother, will begin airing on 20th June.

Comedian Hall and Shobna Gulati (dinnerladies) reprise their roles as Beena and her mum Amrit, with fellow comic Morgan Rees once again playing Beena's not-so-bright boyfriend Dewi.

Series 2 finds Beena and Amrit negotiating a new job, a speed awareness course and a potentially life-changing moment.

"Overjoyed to have spent the past three days with these extremely talented and lovely people recording the new series of Beena And Amrit," Hall posted on Instagram. "We laughed, we ate roast dinners in the BBC canteen, and we sang a lot more than you should while recording a sitcom."

Llinos Mai, Sonal Fricker and stand-ups Eleri Morgan and Leila Navabi also return to the cast, with the latter also taking over script-editing the series. They are joined by Geraint Rhys Edwards (Age Of Outrage).

Beena And Amrit is written by Hall with comedian Pravanya Pillay and directed by Carys Lewis (Vandullz). It is produced by Sara Allen (Welcome Strangers) for 16Media (Double Top).

The first series aired in 2022, following a 2021 television pilot version starring Hall and Meera Syal in the title roles.
