Failure in sitcom

Failure is one of the key engines of British sitcom. Indeed, it is often failure that allows the premise to reset at the end of each episode.

Utilised effectively, failure can be an engine of jokes. Just don't allow it to tip - at least, not too often - into misery and tragedy.

There are lots of ways to explore failure in your scripts, but broadly your characters' failures can be divided into three categories: personal, financial, situational.
