We don't tend to do five syllable English surnames, let alone stick names that long in the title of brand-new comedy shows. All power then to Peter Serafinowicz's (Polish) ethnic elbow for managing to get his name in lights for what promises to be a reliably entertaining series of sketch comedy.

As a tried and tested impressionist, Serafinowicz will be impersonating such stars as Al Pacino and Simon Cowell - while introducing a crop of characters from incompetent private detective Brian Butterfield to Michael-6, robot chat show host.

Dominic Cavendish, The Telegraph, 3rd October 2007

The problem with Look Around You mark two is that it is incredibly difficult to see how the series can be spread over the course of six weeks successfully. There are laughs to be had here, but this was only the first episode and it is hard to see how the ideas behind the show can be maintained.

Chris Orton, Off The Telly, 31st January 2005

With The League of Gentlemen off the boil and The Office now as underground as the Mir space station, Look Around You is currently the BBC's sole piece of cult-comedy programming. Fundamentally, it's the schools' programming of your 1970s/1980s childhood rejigged by two very silly and disturbed men, Robert Popper and Peter Serafinowicz.

Caitlin Moran, The Times, 18th October 2002

For this reviewer, anyway, Look Around You has remained terribly one-note. It appears that the comedy is supposed to stem from the juxtaposition of earnest presentation and nonsensical content. The few "proper" gags that have been slotted in alongside this approach have themselves been laboured and uninspiring.

Graham Kibble-White, Off The Telly, 17th October 2002
