Ellie Taylor has shot her first villainous television role and revealed that she shares a stunt double with Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot, in the forthcoming live action series Knuckles, a spin-off from the Sonic The Hedgehog movie.

With Idris Elba once again voicing the none-too-smart Echidna warrior Knuckles, the Paramount+ series also features Julian Barratt and The Book Group's Rory McCann in currently undisclosed roles, as well as Edi Patterson (The Righteous Gemstones) and rapper Kid Cudi, aka Scott Mescudi, with Tika Sumpter reprising her role from the Sonic movie.

Following Knuckles on a journey of self-discovery as he trains his protégé Wade in the ways of a warrior, Taylor explained on Oti Mabuse's Breakfast Show that playing her first "baddie" in her "first foray into action" was "really fun".

The stand-up and Ted Lasso star told Mabuse that Knuckles is "totally different to anything I've ever done before. Doing stunts and stuff was wild. I've got weapons!"

A former Strictly Come Dancing contestant, Taylor added that "actually, doing Strictly had been quite useful to go through a process of learning choreography and knowing that at the beginning I'll be dreadful but by the end it'll be acceptable."

"Doing action scenes and when you're dancing, when you're doing something that you've not done before, you feel really silly.

"I don't know how to shoot a gun, I've never done it. I'm usually at softplay with my kid, I don't know what I'm doing. So trying to get over that and whack an imaginary kitten around the head with a gun, getting in that zone, I loved it."

The comic, who announced on social media last week that she was pregnant with her second child, also revealed that unsurprisingly, she doesn't do all of her own stunts in the frenetic video game adaptation.

"My stunt double was the same stunt double who doubles for Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman. I was so impressed by that, I felt so sorry that she had to then double for me."
