Devin finds footage of his previous teachers and classmates mocking his social and intellectual skills. James had intentions to show Devin as an example of one of the 99% of people that fail in the entertainment industry. Devin storms off then falls out with Jason after he tries to offer him a new gig. He then decides to get a normal job.

Then James receives great news from an agent offering a position better suited for Devin's "skills". Devin reluctantly agrees just before he starts his new job and after performing a live stand-up comedy show in Hounslow High Street, he gets signed to Coles and Owen, a talent agency. James has a change of heart and changes his dissertation to show Devin in a better light, explaining that no matter how often you fail, if you put in the effort you can make your dreams a reality (even though it meant failing his final essay), and the two continue to be friends.
