It's not just the critics and BSG forum regulars who dislike Jam and Jerusalem. The Avon Federation of Women's Institutes has also hit out at the Jennifer Saunders' show, which is currently airing on BBC1 on Friday evenings.

"It plays to the worst side of people's nature and I don't like it at all," says Ros Knight, Secretary, Avon Federation of Women's Institutes. "I'd like to see it taken off air."

The cast of the sitcom, which, according to the BBC, takes an affectionate look at village life, includes Dawn French, Pauline McLynn, Joanna Lumley, David Mitchell and Sally Phillips.
